Buying a Home in Myrtle Beach - How to choose a community

Market Commons - A new lifestyle in Myrtle Beach
So you've made the decision to move to Myrtle Beach, either due to retirement or because you feel it calling to you. Don't laugh. I spent the first 35 years of my life longing for the smell of salt in the air and passing through winters without ice and extreme weather. When I got lucky and gutsy enough to move here from Greensboro and away from my family, I didn't hesitate and have never regretted it.
Myrtle Beach is truly a wonderful and perfect place to live. Whether you can afford to be a block from the ocean or you have to live a mile away from it, you still have all the perks that 50,000 tourists spend their last dollars to enjoy for a week out of the year.
Every kind of top quality restaurant you could ask for can be found here. It would take two years to try them all and there would be 25 new ones when you did. Our shopping facilities can go head to head with Atlanta or even New York. There are swimming pools on every block, fitness centers end to end, live shows, community festivals, dog parks, horseback riding facilities, comedy clubs, dancing clubs, headline entertainers appearing frequently, and of course GOLF COURSES. The winters are mild, the summers hot but blending into perfect falls and fantastic springs with mellow temps and perfect humidity levels. Our oceanfront condos in Myrtle Beach are as luxurious as any you'll find.
Unlike Florida, we have a short and sweet heavy tourist season, and the rest of the year belongs to the residents. The traffic eases up, the convertible tops go down, and we relish our lifestyle everyday we spend here.
So which area and what kind of community will you choose?
Consider your lifestyle preferences. We have plenty for every type. Do you want peace and quiet? Do you love nature and prefer to drive just a bit to the restaurants and nightlife instead of having it at your fingertips? Consider one of the many Myrtle Beach golf course communities. You can live modestly on a beautiful golf course in Little River and a few miles from North Myrtle Beach, or be among the affluent luxury of gated golf course communities in Pawleys Island like Willbrook.
Do you like the condo life? Consider if you can afford the amenities offered by the beautiful oceanfront resorts such as Ocean Creek in North Myrtle or the high-rise fast paced supercharged luxury of downtown Myrtle Beach. How about the relatively new and breathtakingly beautiful waterway resorts such as Barefoot Resort or Grande Dunes? Oceanfront views are fabulous, but what about having your own boat slip parked outside your home to go tooling down the waterway anytime you choose?
If it's a home in Myrtle Beach that you prefer, you need to decide whether to grab one of the new houses a couple of blocks from the beach...picture yourself in a golf cart riding to the ocean or to the drugstore.
Is it more important for you to be in a landscaped or gated community with sidewalks, a pool, and neighbors who jog and walk their dogs? Do you want an inexpensive home a few miles out on a golf course in Little River, or a fabulous showcase in Grande Dunes or Litchfield? Would you be just as happy with a smaller, older home several blocks from the beach in North Myrtle or Surfside?
New for 2008, we have the ultimate yuppie lifestyle home - Market Commons in Myrtle Beach. Choose a condo overtop of the finest shopping, living amongst a culture that includes the finest clothing stores, Barnes and Nobles at the end of the street, and P.F Changs across from you.
