Charlton Heston, the actor in the classic movies The Ten Commandments, Ben-Hur, and Planet of the Apes passed away at the age of 84, his family is reporting. Heston was an icon to conservatives. He started off as a liberal and a Democrat, campaigning for Adlai Stevenson and John F. Kennedy, but later in life, he became a conservative and a Republican, taking up issues such as affirmative action, gun rights, and abortion. He even campaigned for Ronald Reagan, George H. W. Bush, and George W. Bush.
