Fifty years ago the Treaty of Rome was signed and the EU was born. We and over 20 other nations are now part of the European Union. Can you say what your feelings are about being a member of the European Union? Can you name all of the EU countries? Better still can you name all of the member states' capital cities? Post any comment on this topic here.

You may not know his name and you may not recognise his face, but SEYMOUR PAPERT, described as 'one of the founding father of education technology' is the person we all have to thank for the introduction of ICT in classrooms all over the world. It was he who suggested that every child should have access to a computer and was behind the $100 laptop scheme. Whilst attending a conference in Vietnam this week, he was knocked down and received severe head injuries. As I write this I have a tear in my eye as I recall that his was the first name I ever heard in a lecture at University as I trained to be a teacher. Lately he was reponsible for aiding LEGO with their Mindstorms products (that toy range was named after a book he wrote! - how cool is that?). He was a source of inspiration to me and probably unknown to many of you he has been an influence on your lives too. It is unknown at this stage how serious his injuries are, but I wish him well. Please post here your favourite school ICT experiences as a tribute to this man's vision. How do you use your ICT skills? What has ICT done for you that has changed the way you live your life? Do you use Lego Mindstorms? photo credit: Seymour Papert, as seen earlier this year at a telecentre in Uruguay.
